Apple’s new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are finally here. Apple announced the high-end iPhones at its ‘Wonderlust’ event, and they come with new features. The iPhones are designed with titanium, they have a new Action Button, and they are powered by the new A17 Pro chip.

The iPhone 15 Pro has a 6.1-inch display size, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch display just like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. They feature Super Retina XDR displays with ProMotion and Always-On (StandBy) which is debuting with the iOS 17.

For the first time, the Pro iPhones feature a strong and lightweight titanium design. Apple says the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the lightest Pro iPhones ever due to them having “one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any metal.” The new iPhones are available in four new finishes, including black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium.

The new Pro iPhones debut the new Action Button, replacing the single-function button used to toggle between ring and silent. With a press-and-hold gesture, the Action Button produces haptic feedback and visual cues in the Dynamic Island. The button is programmable and can be used for many quick actions such as quick access to the camera or flashlight; activating Voice Memos, Focus modes, Translate, and many more shortcuts.

iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are powered by the A17 Pro chip, which Apple says is the industry’s first 3-nanometer chip. “A17 Pro brings improvements to the entire chip, including the biggest GPU redesign in Apple’s history,” the company says in a press release. “The new CPU is up to 10 percent faster with microarchitectural and design improvements, and the Neural Engine is now up to 2x faster, powering features like autocorrect and Personal Voice in iOS 17. The pro-class GPU is up to 20 percent faster and unlocks entirely new experiences, featuring a new 6-core design that increases peak performance and energy efficiency. Now with hardware-accelerated ray tracing — which is 4x faster than software-based ray tracing — iPhone 15 Pro offers smoother graphics, as well as more immersive AR applications and gaming experiences. iPhone 15 Pro brings true-to-life gaming to the palm of users’ hands with console titles never before seen on a smartphone, like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.”

The A17 Pro chip features a dedicated AV1 decoder bringing efficient and high-quality video streaming experience for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. HDR video is now possible up to 4K 60fps with fast transfer speeds at USB 3 with the USB-C port on the Pro iPhones.

Thanks to the A17 Pro chip, Apple says the camera systems on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max is equal to seven pro lenses. The 48MP main camera can be switched between three focal lengths – 24 mm, 28 mm, and 35 mm. It is capable of 48MP ProRaw and it supports 48MP HEIF images 4x more resolution. The 3x Telephoto lens is capable of 5x optical zoom at 120mm focal length.

Pricing for the iPhone 15 Pro starts at $999 and $1,199 for iPhone 15 Pro Max. Pre-orders begin on Friday, September 15th, and the phones will be available from September 22nd.
